Terms and Conditions - Ten Acres Ranch

Inspecting at Pickup -

You may inspect your hive or nuc before leaving the property, but we do not recommend doing so, especially during daylight hours. If you choose to inspect, you must wear protective gear (at least a veil). Bees can escape from packages, nucs, or hives, so proper gear is essential.

Transportation Guidelines - 

To ensure safe transport, follow these guidelines:

• Best Method: Bees travel well in the open bed of a truck (weather permitting).
• Transporting in a Car: If using an enclosed space, place the container in a large cardboard box or a mesh laundry bag (available at most dollar stores).
• ⚠ WARNING: Do NOT block ventilation. Bees can quickly overheat and die.

Assumption of Risk -

Ten Acres Ranch does not guarantee you will be able to successfully establish your colony.  We guarantee you live, healthy bees at the time of pickup.  Weather conditions and environmental exposures are under your control during transport through final placement.  Environmental exposures include but are not limited to the hardware the bees are in, handling, transportation and placement conditions.  We do not guarantee the productivity of your queen, hive or nuc.   The vigorousness of the bees to produce honey or more bees is environmental and genetic and outside our control.  We do not guarantee that any queen will be accepted by your hives.  We do provide tips for increasing the likelihood of acceptance.  You agree that you will not hold Ten Acres Ranch responsible for the condition or productivity of your hive after delivery.

Refunds and Cancellations -

All sales are final on live animals or custom orders.  Deposits paid are non-refundable.  Pick-up dates and times are scheduled by appointment only.  Missed appointments result in forfeiture of your order.  We will reach out to you to start scheduling a good pick-up date and time.  All bee pickups are at the Ten Acres Ranch location.  The pick-up dates for live animals are subject to weather conditions.  Custom orders on soaps, balms or other items may include a pre-established delivery date and time.

Bee placement and Care - 

Once you take possession of your bees, their care and management are your responsibility.  Choose a safe, suitable location to place your bees.  We are not responsible for any swarms, stings, or hive losses after pickup.  In order to receive the best results, move the hive or nuc to its permanent location or place the queen to the hive as soon as possible.  All liability is waived once you leave our property with your bees, hive(s), or nuc(s).

Honey/Crystalization -

Most honeys crystalize after some time. This does not mean the honey is bad.  Some nectars that are reduced to honey are more susceptible to crystallization.  Placing the honey jar in a double boiler or in a pot of hot water for an extended period will reverse the crystallization.  No direct heat.  Do not exceed 110 degrees Fahrenheit.  Plastic jars are likely to melt or warp with these temperatures or techniques.  Glass is best and easiest for heating.  When using plastic jars, a heating pad or warming blanket set to 90 degrees Fahrenheit works well.  Do not place honey in a microwave or on direct heat.  Not only will you damage the nutritional properties of the honey you take a chance on burning yourself or worse.

Eggs and Perishable Products -

Fresh eggs are sold as-is. We do not offer returns or exchanges on perishable items.  Eggs will be picked up by appointment only.  After purchase we will arrange a time for pickup at our location.  Please adhere to the agreed-upon pickup date and time.  Failure to show at the scheduled time will result in the forfiture of your order with no refund.

General Polices -

All our products, including the bees, their honey, eggs, and soaps, are used by us.  If we don't use it we will not offer it for sale.

Multiple discounts cannot be combined.
